Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Parker’s Cove Baptist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Parker’s Cove Baptist members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as cleaning the church, to preparing the church bulletins.  If you have been looking for a place to fit in and serve God, then keep reading.  On this page we have listed many of the areas within Parker’s Cove Baptist where people serve God and keep His message moving forward.

Deacons

God has certainly blessed our church family at Parker’s Cove Baptist with a group of godly men who serve as Deacons.  They are responsible for maintaining a high standard of sound teaching and direction within our church ministries.  These men are appointed as overseers and mentors to lead our church family toward a closer relationship with Christ.

Church Officers

There are many positions within the Parkers’ Cove Church which are required for the running of the entire organization.  There are positions for Treasure, Asst. Treasure, Clerk, Finance Committee, Auditors and Nominating Committee.  God has given each believer different skills, abilities and gifts that are necessary to see His work run smoothly so that we can properly and in an orderly manner spread the Good News.

Trustees

Maintaining our church building is a task given to the trustees.  These men use their skills to maintain and improve the physical needs of our church property.

Ushers

The usher team at Parker’s Cove Baptist Church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men whose ministry is integral to church life.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Parker’s Cove Baptist Church holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that is best suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity.  There are many opportunities to help with this ministry from organization to teaching and helping, and also planning special events.

Kid’sQuest

God has blessed us with a fun and vibrant weekly children’s Program, Kid’sQuest.  There are various opportunities to serve the children and their families in our community within this program.  Many teachers and helpers are needed on a weekly basis to build relationships and share the gospel on Thursday evenings.  Organizational opportunities are also available within this program.  Leaders and teachers, directing games to ordering supplies, organizing notices to go home to parents and even making coffee for parents to stay and enjoy are all vital to God using this time to reach out to families.

Youth Group (SHIFT)

Local teenagers meet Friday evenings for Youth Group, Wednesday evenings for Bible Study and other nights in between.  Teens hear the gospel and have fun doing it on the ‘regular’ Youth group nights and also on the many special trips and events they enjoy.  Working with teens can sometimes be challenging but the rewards are “out of this world”!  Maybe you can’t commit to a weekly position of service but there is very often a need for drivers, chaperones and cookie bakers…

Audio/Visual

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Parker’s Cove Baptist Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes.

Encouragement Committee

Encouraging people in our community during a sickness, a crisis or even on a special birthday is an important part of our local ministry.  A group of believers are busy keeping up with the needs of the community and respond with cards, fruit baskets, flowers or even a phone call.

Parsonage Committee

Being good stewards of what the Lord has blessed our church with is an important part of showing out thankfulness to Him and serving Him.  The parsonage committee is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Assistant Pastors home.

Prayer Groups

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Parker’s Cove Baptist Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers gather together at various small groups to pray for their pastor, church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.  As well, a chain of believers is notified to begin praying any time there is a special request for prayer.

Decorating Committee

Do you have a gift for making your home look nice for the different holidays during the year?  Well this ability also presents a way for you to serve within our church.  On special occasions during the year gifted individuals transform the church and make being there an enjoyable experience.

Greeters

Greet one another…Making everyone feel welcome to join our Sunday morning service begins with a handshake and welcome at the door.

Lending Library

A wide variety of books are available for loan in our church Lending Library.  Whether you are looking for an in-depth Bible study guide or a relaxing fictional read there are a multitude of choices for you to browse.  These are all kept organized by the Lending Library coordinator.

Missions Committee

Parker’s Cove Baptist Church is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. Some of the mission fields we support are over seas and some are located closer to home.  With examples like Gospel for Asia, Muddy River Media & Compassion.  These are just some of the organizations we support.   We encourage our entire congregation to respond to God’s call for labourers; whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Church Bulletin

Each week at Parker’s Cove Baptist our attendees receive a church bulletin outlining events for the week as well as specials announcements and prayer requests.  This bulletin is designed and printed by individuals within our church body who serve the Lord faithfully each week to see that this is available.

Connexions Lifeline Groups

“And the believers met in homes” Parker’s Cove Baptist church runs several small group Bible studies during the week.  Opening your home to have a Connexions Group may be your way of giving back to God what He has blessed you with.  Maybe God has spoken to you and you feel led to facilitate a Connexions Group…speak to the pastor and see where God may lead you.

Visiting with seniors and residents on the local nursing homes is a very rewarding way to serve the Lord.

WMS

Music Ministry

God-honouring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists.  Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Parker’s Cove Baptist Church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.  This can range from a weekly commitment to practice for Sunday services or working on a special cantata for Christmas or Easter.

Mowing

Of course the summer time provides an opportunity for members to take turns mowing and cleaning up the church yard.

Event/Supper Committee

This group of women and men work hard whenever there is a special meal or event at the church.  Setting up for a pot-luck and then cleaning up after are great opportunities to practice the gift of hospitality,

Ladies of all ages meet together for times of bonding and learning together.  Sleepovers, spa nights and weekend retreats provide many opportunities for service.

Men’s Ministries

The men of Parker’s Cove church meet on a regular basis for fellowship (which usually includes bacon and eggs).

Summer Day Camp / Camp Counsellors

Each summer, Parker’s Cove Baptist Church hosts children’s camps. The week-long events involve games, a lot of teaching, good worship, and the intentional influence of camp counsellors. The camp counsellors are selected, screened, and trained for this important camp ministry. They find that their ministry is personally rewarding, and both campers and counsellors grow in the process.
